Welcome to the Chair of Technology Management of Christian-Albrechts-University, Kiel.

Under the direction of Prof. Dr. Carsten Schultz (Dipl-Ing.), the Chair focuses on the development, support, and dissemination of technology-based innovations. Research projects funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the German Research Foundation (DFG), other institutions and industry stakeholders are carried out in four core research areas.

One of these core areas is technology transfer. Related research projects deal with the requirements and factors that contribute to the success of technology transfers between research organizations and companies. The second core area concentrates on innovation management, with an empirical focus on hospitals and care facilities. It also considers the role of Intellectual Property Management in distributed innovation processes. The third core research area focuses on the parameters of change governing companies that are shifting from product-innovators to becoming service-innovators, primarily focusing on product service systems (PSS). We approach this subject by looking at what it takes to secure an environmentally responsible and sustainable, but competitive economic development. We also examine the extension of existing business models of medical technology companies. The forth core area of our research examines the organizational conditions of service networks in health care, and their IT-based management.

The Chair of Technology Management offers lectures for Bachelor, Master, PhD, and continuing-education students. Our courses include:  Strategic Technology Management, Organisation of R&D, Diffusion of Innovations, and Project Management.
