Dr. Christoph Strumann (Dipl.-Volksw.) received his doctorate in 2013 under Prof. Dr. Helmut Herwartz within the program “Quantitative Economics” at the Christian-Albrechts-University in Kiel. His doctoral thesis focused on methods of the spatial econometrics as well as the effects of the lump compensation on the competition and the efficiency of the hospitals. During his time as PhD student he worked as research assistant at the Chair of Economics (Prof. Dr. Helmut Herwartz) and at the Chair of Start-up and Innovation Management (Prof. Dr. Achim Walter) at the CAU in Kiel. Previously Christoph studied Economics at the CAU in Kiel, focusing on quantitative economic research. In September 2014 he joined the Chair of Technology Management as research assistant. His research focuses on health care management (esp. efficiency of hospitals and modelling the length of hospitalization), international diffusion of knowledge and innovations, and econometrics (esp. spatial econometrics, micro and panel econometrics).

Dr. Jan Sternkopf (Dipl.-Kfm.) received his doctorate in 2016 under Prof. Dr. Carsten Schultz. His research focuses on the adoption and diffusion of innovations, particularly in healthcare, as well as on innovation and intellectual property management. During his time as PhD student he visited the Institute for Manufacturing, University of Cambridge and the Management Engineering Department, Technical University of Denmark, for several months. Jan studied business administration at Kiel University and BI Norwegian Business School in Oslo focusing on marketing and innovation management. During his studies, he worked for a mid-sized company based in Kiel and completed various internships in Melbourne, Australia and Qingdao, China.

Research focus
Dipl.-Volksw. Alexander Wirsich studied economics at the Christian-Albrechts-University in Kiel, focusing on innovation, new media and marketing. Starting in September 2011, he worked as a student assistant in the Department of Innovation, New Media and Marketing under the direction of Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Sönke Albers. In January 2012, Alexander completed his thesis entitled “Mechanisms of Action and Organization of Content for Recall Communication.” Immediately afterwards, he began working as research assistant for the Chair of Technology Management in February of 2012. Alexander’s research focuses on university – industry collaboration.
